rebel Female Football Week Kicks Off Today in Northern NSW

rebel Female Football Week (FFW) officially launches today, Friday, March 2nd. The national initiative gives the football community the chance to celebrate the immense growth of the women’s game and acknowledge existing players, coaches, referees and administrators in football.

Across the week, Northern NSW Football (NNSWF), Member Zones and Member Clubs have joined in on the festivities hosting over 18 activities across the region.

NNSWF is pleased to announce Westfield W-League Newcastle Jets player Cassidy Davis as the rebel FFW Ambassador. Davis along with fellow Newcastle Jets teammates will make several appearances across Northern NSW throughout the week.

With the Newcastle Jets’ support for rebel FFW, tomorrow nights Hyundai A-League match between Newcastle Jets and Sydney will feature a showcase of female football from ALDI MiniRoos for Girls, Youth Girls, Female Referees and Senior Women all taking part in small-sided halftime games at the stadium.

For the first time ever, NNSWF will be holding a rebel FFW Women’s Football Network Evening that will have guest speakers including:

  • FFA General Manager of Women’s Football Broadcaster & Former Westfield Matildas Player, Sarah Walsh;
  • rebel Female Football Week ambassador, Westfield W-League Newcastle Jets player & 2018 Warners Bay FC Coach/Player of Herald Women’s Premier League, Cassidy Davis; and
  • Co-director of the University of Newcastle priority research centre for physical activity and nutrition and physical education lecturer in the school of education. The lead investigator on DADEE, a world-first physical activity program targeting dads and daughters, Professor Phil Morgan.

The evening is aimed at administrators, club committees, coaches, players and passionate supporters and members of the football community. Those who are interested in developing and progressing women’s football at their club and within the wider community.

Local Northern NSW Football member, Leonard Allen will be awarded the FFA rebel FFW Community Football Male Champion of the Year Award, rebel FFW Ambassador/Newcastle Jets player Cassidy Davis will present the award.
