10,500 free balls roll out across northern NSW as community football kicks off

July 14th, 2020

Northern NSW Football (NNSWF) is thrilled to announce 10,500 free footballs have been rolled out across northern NSW following Community Football’s kick off throughout the region on 3 July.

Newcastle Permanent, NNSWF’s major Community Football partner, provide the balls annually to entry-level players aged seven and under to help them start their season.

The free balls complement the overall affordability of the game for new players along with lower registration fees and the NSW Government’s Active Kids Voucher.

NNSWF CEO David Eland said having Newcastle Permanent as a major sponsor of community football allowed NNSWF to keep player registration fees as low as possible, a major draw card for parents looking for an affordable, fun and safe sport for their children.

“At the moment many mums and dads may be experiencing some difficult times financially as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic,” Eland said.

“This is a wonderful gesture from Newcastle Permanent, which they have done for a number of years now, to make things that little bit easier for parents of young kids starting out playing football.”

Newcastle Permanent CEO Bernadette Inglis said the organisation remained committed to supporting local community initiatives that encourage children and their families to lead healthy, happy and active lives.

“Since our partnership commenced in 2008 we’ve now provided more than 100,000 footballs to entry level players. These footballs provide a fun way for the children to stay connected and practice their footwork when at home,” Inglis said

“We’re delighted to continue our partnership with Northern NSW Football which offers an inclusive and accessible sport for girls, boys, women and men alike.

“We wish all young players, new and returning, all the best for the upcoming season.”

Newcastle Permanent has partnered with NNSWF since 2008.
