RE: COVID-19 HOT SPOTS NEWCASTLE REGION

Northern NSW Football is committed to protecting the football family and stopping the spread of COVID-19 throughout the broader community. NNSWF Management is in constant contact with the relevant health authorities and the following advice provided to stakeholders is reflective of the latest information provided by NSW and Hunter New England Health.
SCHOOLS UPDATE:
Regarding St Francis Xavier’s College, Hamilton East, the school reopened on Tuesday for staff and students not identified as one of the confirmed case’s 120 close contacts, having closed last Friday. NSW Health have instructed identified close contacts of the confirmed case to self-isolate for 14 days from the date of last possible contact, 5 August. Identified close contacts will return to school at the end of their 14-day isolation period, Thursday 20 August, only if not showing symptoms of being unwell. Students and teachers who are self-isolating are prohibited from all football activity until their self-isolating period concludes.
Regarding St Pius X High School, Adamstown, the school reopened on Monday for staff and students not identified as one of the confirmed case’s 140 close contacts, having closed last Thursday. NSW Health have instructed identified close contacts of the confirmed case to self-isolate for 14 days from the date of last possible contact, 3 August. Identified close contacts will return to school at the end of their 14-day isolation period, Tuesday 18 August, only if not showing symptoms of being unwell. Students and teachers who are self-isolating are prohibited from all football activity until their self-isolating period concludes.
NEWCASTLE REGION:
In response to the recent identification of positive COVID-19 cases within the Newcastle Region, Northern NSW Football (NNSWF) advises persons present at any of the following locations identified by Hunter New England (HNE) Health and/or NSW Health on the specified dates and times are strictly prohibited from all football activity and must self-isolate for a minimum of 14 days.
As at 12.30pm, 11 August 2020, NSW Health identified LOCAL hotspots include:
- Bennett Hotel, Hamilton – Friday 31 July, from 5.30pm to 00pm.
- Sydney Junction Hotel, Hamilton – Saturday 1 August, from 11pm to 1.15am Sunday 2 August.
- Hotel Jesmond – Wednesday 29 July, 7pm to 9pm.
- Lambton Park Hotel – Thursday 30 July, 8pm to 9pm.
- Bar 88, Wests New Lambton – Sunday 2 August, from 5.00pm to 7.15pm.
- Number 26 bus (Hamilton to Adamstown) to school on Monday 3 August, at 20am.
- Wallsend Diggers – Wednesday 29 July 9pm to 11pm and Thursday 30 July 9pm to 11pm
If you have been to any of these locations during the date and time indicated, you should:
- Immediately self-isolate until 14 days after you were last there
- Get tested even if you have no symptoms
- Watch for COVID-19 symptoms and get retested should any symptoms recur
- Even if you get a negative test, you must stay in isolation for 14 days as it can take 14 days before you may show symptoms or test positive
NSW Health also urges any patrons who visited the following local venues at the times specified to be alert for symptoms, and if any develop to get tested and self-isolate immediately.
- McDonald Jones Stadium – Sunday 2 August, 7:30pm to end of game, Newcastle Jets
- Greenroof Bar and Restaurant, Hamilton – Friday 31 July, from 10.30pm to 12.15pm Saturday 1 August.
- Sushi Revolution, Hamilton – Saturday 1 August, from 12noon to 12.45pm.
- Queens Wharf Hotel – Saturday 1 August from 9.30pm to 00pm.
- Toronto Court House (Toronto Drug Court) – Monday 27 July 7am to 2pm.
SYDNEY REGION:
The same advice is relevant for locations and venues for those who may have visited Sydney.
As at 12.30pm, 11 August 2020, NSW Health-identified SYDNEY hotspots where participants are strictly prohibited from all football activity and must self-isolate for a minimum of 14 days if they have visited include:
- Jambo Jambo African Restaurant, Glebe – Friday 31 July, 7pm to 10.30pm
- Fitness First, St Leonards – Monday 27 July 9am to 10:30am
- Burrow Bar, Sydney – Saturday 1 August 9.45pm to 11.15pm
NSW Health also urges any patrons who visited the following SYDNEY venues at the times specified to be alert for symptoms, and if any develop to get tested and self-isolate immediately.

This advice strictly applies to all football stakeholders and participants including players, coaches, team officials, match officials, parents, club officials, volunteers and spectators.
Players are encouraged to contact their club immediately if they are unable to participate in football. Clubs will subsequently contact the respective Competition Administrator if they are unable to field teams due to the health alert.
