The Newcastle Permanent Community Awards for 2019 were announced recently. These awards provide the much needed recognition for the people that keep our game running throughout the year. The coaches, the volunteers and the referees contributing each week to their local footballing communities.
The winners of the Newcastle Football Community Awards are:
Coach of the Year
Chloe Barwick
Chloe’s exceptional work as a coach this year has resulted in her coaching the Zone Community League teams; coaching and mentoring over 32 women. Chloe is a supportive coach, always looking to improve her skills and knowledge to pass onto her players.
Volunteer of the Year
Laura Ranger
Laura has been a dedicated member of Mayfield JFC – her jobs ranging from coach, club secretary, registrar and MiniRoos coordinator. Laura is also at the forefront of club initiatives such as developing the kick-off program at Mayfield and piloting the National Club Development Program (NCDP).
Referee of the Year
Joshua Mills
Earlier this year, Josh represented Newcastle Football at the NNSWF Boys’ Talented Official Program (TOP) and was ranked third out of sixteen referees who attended the program. Josh has officiated at a high standard throughout 2019 and has a bright future as a match official.
