Northern NSW Football (NNSWF) is pleased to announce the Newcastle Permanent Volunteers of the Month for April 2017 across the zones.
“Without volunteers such as this month’s winners, our sport simply would not be in the position it currently enjoys,” Community Football Manager, Peter Haynes said.
“Their contribution to their clubs have been key to their club’s ability to provide positive football experiences for all its members.
“I am pleased that NNSWF is able to thank and recognise these volunteers on behalf of the sport,” Haynes concluded.
Each winner will be awarded a certificate recognising their achievement, volunteer jacket, and bag, courtesy of Newcastle Permanent, to assist in fulfilling their valuable roles at their respective clubs.
From the pool of monthly winners, a “Newcastle Permanent Volunteer of the Year” for each Zone will be recognised at the Northern NSW Football Annual Awards Night.
Newcastle Permanent Acting Chief Executive Officer David Harney echoes Haynes sentiments and applauds the volunteers who received the award.
“Newcastle Permanent’s Community Football partnership provides opportunities to recognise volunteers who give back so much to their clubs and communities. It is great to see a local being recognised for their ongoing commitment,” Harney said.
The April Newcastle Permanent Volunteer of the Month Award recipients from across each of its seven Member Zones are as follows:
Bruce Johnstone

Bruce has been with TEBFC for many years and played many roles to ensure the club’s success. Currently, Bruce is the Vice President, Women’s Division 3 Coach and Canteen Manager. He is often taken for granted just how much time goes into running a canteen and placing orders, not to mention the time spent serving while most other members are watching the games. The kids love seeing Bruce in the canteen – he always says hello to them and takes an interest in their activities outside of football. Plus he always has the canteen stocked with lollies!
Lesley Campbell
Great Lakes United Football Club
Football Mid North Coast
Lesley coordinates and maintains the canteen supplies, she is a coach of her son’s team, plays in the women’s competition whilst assisting in any way possible sometimes to the detriment of spending time with her family.
Kylie Parsons

Not from our Club but Kylie not only does a fantastic job with hours of time given to her own club but regularly goes out of her way to offer assistance to other Clubs. She has offered a lot of assistance to our club in the last few months and not only offered herself but asked for other Rutherford Club members to help out when we were concerned we wouldn’t have enough volunteers for a fundraising BBQ at Bunnings. Whenever she sees another Club is in need of help, she offers straight away and happy to share her knowledge and experience. It is nice to have another club help out and work together to improve the football experience for all, players, parents and volunteers! It was reassuring to know that if we ran short of volunteers, Kylie would come down and give us a hand!
Dianne Spurway

I would like to nominate Dianne Spurway for her tireless work at CHUFC. Dianne was the Secretary of our Junior Club before we merged both Junior and Senior entities in September 2014. The work load has become quite a task for one individual since that merger but Dianne has been a key figure in helping the club enjoy the success we are now experiencing both on and off the field. She takes on jobs like apparel ordering and allocations for NewFM as well as the massive task of organising Junior registrations and players into their team allocations. He communication skills are flawless and always accurate and to the point. She performs he role at the club with a seeming effortlessness supported with a memory that surpasses all of us involved in the management committee combined! For many years she accepted the role of Secretary at AGM’s without a child playing in the club. Her selflessness for the work she does in the club that contributes to the community deserves to be recognised. I’ve been waiting for an opportunity to nominate Di for quite a while now. I hope she is recognised either by this NPBS mechanism something greater that NNSWF provides themselves at their Presentation Night.
Alissia Jackson

Alissia Jackson first joined the committee at Cardiff Football Club as a 16-year-old in 1998 to help with the grounds committee. Since that time she has held most positions on the Cardiff Committee but mostly (and currently) as Club Secretary. Alissia is a dedicated worker who is there every weekend to help make things run smoothly. A tireless worker who only wants the best for the club members….no matter what the age.
Barry Murphy
Tamworth Football Club

Barry joined Tamworth FC a parent of a junior player in 2013. In 2014, Barry used his business contacts and acumen to obtain a significant junior sponsor for Tamworth FC which has ensured that registrations are maintained as low as possible, while still maintaining enough equipment for all teams. In 2015, Barry stepped up to the role of Secretary for Tamworth FC. Secretary is one of the busiest roles in the club, dealing with correspondence in and out from numerous sources, Barry performed this role superbly. In 2016 and 2017, Barry has been President of Tamworth FC. Barry provides sound advice and great guidance for Tamworth FC, with his business background and staff management experience providing Tamworth FC with necessary skills to ensure stakeholders are happy with their FC experience.

Paul has worked tirelessly for the Club over the years in many roles such as President, Coach and now he has also become a Referee. His ability to assist and motivate the members of the Nambucca Strikers has seen the Club grow and flourish. It is people like Paul who personify the love of our game at the Community level by completing the many thankless tasks to ensure our Clubs function so well for their members. Well done Paul!
