Northern NSW Football’s Promising Stars to Compete in State SAP Championships

September 11th, 2019

More than 240 young female footballers from across Northern NSW are set to compete in the annual First Touch Football Supplies (FTFS) State Skill Acquisition Program (SAP) Championship in Coffs Harbour next week.

Kicking off on Saturday 21 September through to Monday 23 September 2019, 16 teams from across Northern NSW will compete in two age divisions – 12 Years and 14 Years.

The tournament is just one of NNSWF’s major competitions to be conducted at the newly renovated C.ex International Stadium for the year.

NNSWF Westfield National Youth Championship for Girls was previously played in July. In the following week’s, the FFA National Youth Championship for Boys and NNSWF’s Champion of Champions will be played out in the stadium during October.

Northern NSW Football’s (NNSWF) Head of Football Development Peter Haynes is looking forward to witnessing the talent that will be displayed across the three-day tournament.

“These championships provide us with the opportunity to identify potential players for future representative squads for Northern NSW Football at upcoming National Championships as well as monitor potential players for other future development opportunities,” Haynes said.

NNSWF Technical Advisor Leo Bertos, who will be monitoring the players, is looking forward to witnessing the best players in the region compete across the three-day competition.

“This is a fantastic weekend of football for both players and spectators involved. Competing in a stadium environment is a step up to regular environments of gala days and weekend games, where players and teams are playing for points.

“State Championships allows a clean slate for the teams to battle it out to be the best team in the NNSWF region.

“I would like to wish everyone the best of luck, players should be proud of their achievements representing their region,” concluded Bertos,

The first lot of matches across the weekend will commence at 8:30 am on Saturday 21 September at C.ex International Stadium, Coffs Harbour with both age groups playing simultaneously on three fields.

The presentation ceremony for the Championships will take place at 2 pm, Monday 23 September.
