Mental Health Aware Round

Newcastle Football has aligned with the Bright Minds project Communities Activities Lake Macquarie (CALM) to provide clubs with support in being Mental Health Aware.

How can your Club be Mental Health Aware?
1. Appoint a Mental Health Aware Officer. 
2. Attend the Free Informational Workshops provided by CALM and LivingWorks. 
3. Register for the Mental Health in Football Round
4. Order your kit!

What workshops are available?
Mental Health Aware Workshops
These are designed specifically for players, volunteers and parents but also provide essential information for club administrators and coaches. These free workshops explain what mental health and mental illness are all about and how it affects us both in and out of sport. Participants will be introduced to the concept of being Mental Health Aware, including how to use the acronym AWARE to support those around your clubs.

SafeTalk workshops
Designed for key contacts in your club where participants will learn about how to engage in direct and open conversations about suicide and how to respond to individuals who may be in need of support.

START Online Workshops
START Online Workshop: For all coaches and officials. START is a 90min online training program that prepares trainees with the skills to recognise when someone is having thoughts of suicide and respond to keep them safe. they provide practicial skills to enable the participant to develop an understanding of what to say and how to approach someone who you think may be in need of support.
