Minmi Wanderers FC achieve four stars in National Club Development Program

March 15th, 2021

Minmi Wanderers FC can lay claim to being one of Northern NSW Football’s foundation clubs in the Newcastle and Hunter area.

Now, Minmi have joined the growing list of clubs achieving accreditation in the National Club Development Program.

Newcastle Football CEO Russell Henry and Northern NSW Football Club Development Officer Phillip Andrews visited the club recently to recognise their achievement of scoring four stars in the NCDP.

Minmi club president Scott Henderson said the Wanderers had been successful in developing the Zone Football League component of their club in recent seasons and hoped to be competitive again this year.

“In 2021 we are excited about getting a female team on the pitch,” Henderson said.

“Minmi Wanderers FC will field teams in MiniRoos this season and will look towards growing opportunities for the kids of our local community to play football with their mates at our club.”

Minmi’s Holly Henderson said the Wanderers had, in consultation with NNSWF, delivered a MiniRoos Kick-Off program at the end of last year, attracting 20 young footballers.

“All of those players have registered for this season with our goal being to grow our MiniRoos and junior numbers for the 2022 season through ensuring these players and visitors to our venue have a positive experience,” she said.

Andrews said the National Club Development Program was available to all clubs across Australia.

“It is a program developed by Football Australia in consultation with Member Federations to encourage clubs to assess their governance, facilities and deliverance of key football objectives,” Andrews said.

“Holly and the committee at Minmi Wanderers FC have been working through their governance, reviewing and adopting policies as required with the NCDP guiding the way.

“We look forward to working alongside Newcastle Football to further support the growth of this club as they work towards achieving their goals. We wish them the very best for the 2021 season.”
