Newcastle Permanent Coach of the Month Winners Announced for April

May 31st, 2017

Northern NSW Football (NNSWF) is pleased to announce the Newcastle Permanent Coach of the Month for April 2017 across the zones.

Football enriches character, intelligence, coordination and skill and each season, brave men and women step up to the plate and take on the task of helping our young athletes reach their potential: The Coach.

“Coaches are often the shopfront of our Community Football Clubs,” NNSWF Community Football Manager Peter Haynes commented.

“They can sometimes be the only interaction our players and their parents have with a club.”

Each month, one registered coach from each of NNSWF’s seven Member Zones will be awarded the Newcastle Permanent Community Coach of the Month award.

Each winner will receive a Newcastle Permanent Community Coaching kit consisting of 6 balls, 20 markers, 10 bibs and a whistle, as well as a polo shirt and cap, to assist in fulfilling their roles at their respective club.

At the end of the season, each Zone will nominate one community coach from their pool of winners, to represent their Zone for the opportunity to be named “Newcastle Permanent Community Coach of the Year” announced at NNSWF annual awards night.

“It is coaches like this month’s winners who continue to ensure that their club is a good place to play and that their players are enjoying a positive football experience,” Haynes concluded.

Newcastle Permanent Acting Chief Executive Officer, David Harney echoes Haynes sentiments and applauds those who received the award.

“Newcastle Permanent is proud to support community football across Northern NSW and it is great to be able to recognise the efforts of a local coach who shows such dedication to developing their team,” Harney said.

The April Newcastle Permanent Coach of the Month Award recipients from across each of its seven Member Zones are as follows:

FFNC-COM-Jamie-Visser

Jamie Visser

Lennox Head FC

Football Far North Coast

Jamie puts his heart and soul into coaching what he calls the Lennox Head Super 2nds! The team is a mixture of old Premier Division players who share their opinions on how to do things and Jamie (who is a great listener) lets them have their say, before proceeding to bamboozle the players with knowledgeable and imaginative coaching methods. Some of the players have been playing football since the early 70’s and have been shocked by how much fun they have had playing and training under Jamie. The team highly recommend Jamie for coach of the month.

Lou Redgrove

Port Saints

Football Mid North Coast

Lou has an innate ability to extract the best from the boys. He encourages fair and honest play from the team and emphasises the importance of respect for officials, coaches and other players. He has sort to develop his own abilities by attending coaching and development programs and utilises what he has learned to develop an ever-improving squad of young men. He approaches the boys and their parents with respect and in turn, has gained ours.

Teresa Wrightson

Cessnock PCYC

Hunter Valley Football

Teresa does do a lot of work for PCYC. She and her husband Ian are there for training and game days assisting the coaches and players, setting up BBQ’s etc, and at one point, Teresa and Ian were also involved with teaching football to members of the Sheltered workshop. Teresa is pretty much a one-man-band for Cessnock PCYC Soccer as she does more than just coaching, she is also the club registrar and co-ordinates the facility! She is well deserved for all the Community Awards!

Warren Liackman

Swansea Football Club Inc

Macquarie Football

Nominating Warren Liackman for this award because it only seems fitting. Warren has dedicated his time and shared his soccer knowledge with not only my son’s team but 2 other teams as well, over the last few years. He has all the kids engaged, is always encouraging, shows what they could be doing better and above all encourages fair play. Warren’s commitment is not just to his teams but also to the club, he is a valuable member, working behind the scenes and showing leadership when it’s needed. Overall, any club would certainly benefit from having someone like Warren in their club, his is reliable and not afraid of hard work. He loves our community and it shows through his commitment to our children and our club.

NF-COM-Apr17-Marc-Edwards-Tilligerry-FC

Marc Edward

Tilligerry Football Club

Newcastle Football

Not only does Marc teach these girls at school, he loves his students so much that he volunteers his time to coach their All Girls side despite not having children of his own in the club and living out of the area. The girls love and respect him and our membership for U14 Girls this year doubled based on his efforts in coaching. He is always supportive whether win or lose.

Amanda Williams

Nambucca Strikers

North Coast Football

Amanda gives the children skill but ensures it’s fun. Amanda not only coaches this team but takes photos of as many of our games as she can, helps in the canteen and is on our committee. Amanda encourages the children to have fun, play fair and to be inclusive. There are a couple of children with special needs and Amanda makes sure that they are catered for and able to participate. Amanda has a lot of empathy as well as the passion for the game.

Chris Adams

North Companions Football Club

Northern Inland Football

Chris has coached multiple sides for the last 10 years, played with the club forever which continues this year. He is always available for a chat and knows most of the players by their first name. He is an example of a great clubwillingwiling to do what he can to help out. All without asking for a thing in return other than trying to inspire others to follow his lead.
